The Experience of Educating Young Evaluators… Evaluation, a Joint Walk Together, Evangelina Navía Villegas and Julia Huaylla Serrado, Bolivia.

As part of the Capacity-Building Programme in Evaluation run by the Centre for Studies and Development Promotion (DESCO), the K’ayamanta project implemented a Capacity-Building Plan for Young Evaluators that provided training to 20 young people aged 15 to 18 formerly linked to youth projects. The intervention sought to build evaluation capacity with a participatory and group learning approach. With this in mind, a methodological proposal was developed that not only allowed new learnings to be built in but also fostered ownership of the evaluation approach, whilst at the same time encouraging participation in other spaces and strengthening both their organisations and their own individual development. Young participants learned that there is a need to promote replication of this process and share their experiences and learnings.
