We are grateful for the great reception to the new PREVAL web site as well as to the first electronic bulletin, launched in February-March 2005. We have received from many users, very encouraging comments to follow with the task of spreading knowledge, tools and events which will enable to strengthen an evaluative culture in the region. We know that the information is interesting to you and we will be attentive with news.
We present the second PREVAL bulletin in which we are updating information about events, focusing on the ones to be held in April-June 2005. This bulletin has the following sections: From the Editor, Best practices in Monitoring and Evaluation, Events, Notes on the Evaluators Community, Interest Links and Recent publications.
Each information about events can be extended linking the web site's section "Events and courses" in which there is more information as well as a monthly schedule for all 2005. We also present news regarding the evaluators community of the region and worldwide and we show links of interest main offices of evaluation of the multilateral cooperation international institutions.

a) First Meeting - ReLAC's Honduras Chapter
First meeting of ReLAC's Honduras Chapter was held on 01 April 2005. 26 professionals engaged in monitoring, evaluation and systematization of development projects in different areas: rural development, housing, environment, micro enterprises, microfinances, ethnics and education were invited to the event. The meeting was held in the United Nations house made available by UNDP/Honduras.

b) Setting-up of the Chilean Evaluation Network
On 12 April 2005 the Chilean Evaluation Network was set-up in a meeting held in FLACSO premises, to which 8 professionals engaged with the matter of monitoring and evaluation attended. Likewise, the Chilean network accounts with the participation of about 18 professionals interested in being part of the network, who due to different reasons were not able to attend the setting up meeting.
In the first meeting it was agreed that, at the beginning the network will be formed by individuals and that afterwards institutions support and linkings will be looked for.. As first task it was defined the network extension and consolidation, through opening of a web site, which will spread the network starting proposal, its aims and the questionnaire about members expectations and proposals. Next meeting has been arranged for May 24, 2005 and for more details please contact:

c) Venezuela Monitoring, Evaluation and Systematization Network
In order to set up the Venezuela Monitoring, Evaluation and Systematization Network, three meetings were held from September 2004, with about 20 persons. In the meeting-workshop held on 25 February 2005, first version Network Vision and Mision was worked, which is being discussed through electronic means, in order to receive contributions and/or suggestions.

d) Peruvian Network of Monitoring and Evaluation (EvalPeru) Meeting
On Thursday 31 March, in the offices of the Development Studies and Promotion Center (desco), it was held the EvalPeru Network working meeting, called by the Coordinating Committee, in order to make a balance of the work done during 2004, to introduce the new members accepted to the network (nine professionals working in different areas of M&E) and to propose strategies, activities and basic organization for 2005.
After an interesting exchange of viewpoints it was agreed to work on the base of three strategic lines: i) Network institutional management, ii) capabilities strenghtening (professional performance) and iii) role of evaluation in national development. Next meting in which the proposed strategic lines will be treated more in depth, will be held in june.

e) I Biennal Congress of the evaluation community grouped in IDEAS - International Association of Evaluation for Development. New Delhi 12-14 May 2005.
IDEAS is a voluntary association centered in the matter of the sustainable poverty reduction which vision (mission?) is the evaluation development as part of equitative and free societies. Its mission is to advance and to entend evaluation practice refining methods, strenghtening capabilities and extending appropriation.
For that they are building a evaluators community interested in evaluation for development, particularly in developing countries and economies in transition. They held their I Biennial Conference in New Delhi (India) from 12 to 14 April to which about 200 evaluators from all over the world attended, although very few of the Latin America and the Caribbean Region (some 6).
